Are Bigg Boss winners the biggest losers?

Bigg Boss is much-talked, its contestants become household names for a while- but soon fade into oblivion. 

And this is a pattern that has been active for more than 8 seasons.

Few manage to get some work here or there, but the strangest is the fate of the winners.  

Season 1 Winner: Rahul Roy

He was known as a one-film wonder (Aashiqui). The reason infact that he bagged the show was that he was very low key about his life. But things didn’t change for him even after winning Bigg Boss. Once in a while, he is spotted at some random events- but that's all to him till now.

Season 2 Winner: Ashutosh Kaushik

This Saharanpur guy, who owned a dhaba, first appeared on Roadies’ and his rustic attitude made him one of the  contestants, making him win the show. Post that, he went to Bigg Boss and won that too. But apart from landing a few cameos in films like forgettable films like- Zila Ghaziabad,Bhadaas, Shortcut Romeo- pray, where is he?

Season 3 Winner: Vindu Dara Singh

All knew him as Dara Singh's son and ex-husband of Tabu’s sister Farah. Before entering Bigg Boss, he had done small roles in few films.Post the Bigg Boss winner title, he still did only cameos- Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Housefull, Housefull 2, Joker and few with Ajay Devgn like Son of Sardaar, Himmatwala. Worse, things turned ugly for him in 2013 when he was arrested for alleged links with the spot-fixing scamsters in IPL’s sixth edition. However, later his charges were discharged by the Delhi court. Currently he is on Sony’s reality show Power Couples as a mere wild card entry.

Season 4 Winner: Shweta Tiwari

Before entering Bigg Boss, she was a household name thanks to Ekta Kapoor’s show Kasautii Zindagi Kay! But after winning Bigg Boss, her career spiralled downwards! She tried her hand at anchoring Comedy Circus but failed to live up to expectations. She switched back to TV shows like Parvarris, then reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. But nothing could give her the name and fame that she earned as Prerna from Kasautii. 

Season 5 Winner: Juhi Parmar

Another household name, thanks to Kumkum. She did a couple of reality shows thereafter, married TV actor Sachin Shroff and they both also took part in a reality show. However after winning Big Boss, Juhi simply disappeared. Kahan ho tum, Parmar, err, Shroff? 

Season 6 Winner: Urvashi Dholakia

She too shot to fame with her vamp’s role as Komolikaa in Ekta's Kasauti Zindagi Kay! Bigg Boss again played the villain and she has barely seen on small screen. Is Bigg Boss jinxed for the winners?

Season 7 Winner: Gauhar Khan

Gauhar had been actively involved in modelling, doing cameos in couple of YRF films like Rocket Singh, Ishaqzaade and a few item numbers in not-so-noteworthy films.. Then came Bigg Boss 7 where she not only won, but also started dating one of her co-contestants- Kushal Tandon. A few days later, they joined to be a part of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's single. Later, she did Khatron Ke Khiladi but eventually like many reality show relationships end, Gauhar-Kushal’s too didn’t last. She then hosted India's Raw Star, where she was slapped by one of the members in the audience. This did lead to a big controversy. However, inspite all this, today she is a part of only an item song in Kya Kool Hai Hum 3. And the film hasn't done well at the ticket windows!

Season 8 Winner: Gautam Gulati

He landed in Bigg Boss house, thanks to his role in one of the highest rated shows on Indian televison- Diya Aur Baati Hum. After entering Bigg Boss, Gulati went on to become the winner all thanks to his popularity amongst women and his antics on the show that ensured him a huge fan base. Post winning he was given another show from the same network as a judge. Currently, he has just a cameo in Azhar (Cricketer Mohd. Azharuddin’s biopic).

P.S: Prince Narula is the second person who has won Roadies and Bigg Boss, both just like Ashutosh Kaushik! Need we say more?
